Harold Swinnerton.
« on: Friday 17 February 17 17:34 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I have a Samuel John Swinnerton who was born abt 1880 Stoke on Trent.
Samuel was killed 25 Sep 1915, Loos, France.

It is said that Samuel had a son Harold.
What I dont know is what happened to Harold, where he was born or his mothers name.

Can anyone see Them?
Thanks,
bswinno.

Are you sure he was married? On the Register of Soldier's Effects, which gives his death as on 25.9.1915, he was a Private,Royal Warwickshire Regiment, Regimental Number 4055.  The sole legatee is his sister Mrs Polly Walker. This suggests that he wasn't married.

On  UK Army Registers of Soldiers effects it is his sister that is mentioned Mrs Polly Walker so don't think he was married

Same conclusion!

If he did have a son, but wasn't married to his mother, the chances are that the son would have been registered under his mother's name, so it could be very difficult finding him.

He is with his sister mentioned on the later census ..so no sign of a wife or son so as groom said his son will be very hard to find
