UK incoming passenger list from 1929 has Howard P Menzies, Benveneuta F Menzies with children Howard John 6 and Donna 4.

Sandra is right... Donna is Howard's sister.

PS - An..y has free access this weekend.  You can see a Royal Aero Club Aviators Certificate (with photo) for Howard Patrick Menzies... 1930.  So, the family spent some time in the UK, and the father was a pilot too  :)

Here is Howard P, aged 20, travelling back to Canada from England in 1920.  He was visiting his sister Mrs. Pledger in Wanstead, London.  He is going back to his mother and family in Toronto.  It says he lived in Toronto before he went to the UK.

So - as of 1920, there is at least one sister of Howard Patrick still in the UK, and other family members might be in the Toronto area.

Looks like you may be hunting for relatives on both sides of the Atlantic!!

Perhaps you could contact the Burnaby Public library to see if there is an obituary for Donna Rasmussen or Martin who died 24 March 1971?   Hopefully, any children she had would be listed... these would be the closest relatives to your Howard John Menzies.

If there are no nieces and nephews for Howard J, then we can follow up the Menzies cousins....

Hello RK,

Sorry for my late reply but was waiting for the Burnaby Library as you suggested.
This is the obituary Martin-Donna of Burnaby BC, passed away March 24th,1971. Survived by her loving Husband John; 3 Sons, Howard Philip and Thomas; 2 Daughters Anne and Ltn.

What can we do now??
Adrian
Bomber Command research during WW2 in the South Eastern part of The Netherlands. Especially aircraft crash research and locating their crews.

Just found this string on a Google search so joining it late.  We have recently received war medals from the UK that belong to members of our family in Canada; the medals went missing many years ago and were recently found in Wales. In amongst them is a medal for PO H.J. Menzies with his service ID number.  The person in the UK who previously had these medals was formerly a resident of south Burnaby, BC.  We can't make a connection with our family to Menzies family - so thought I'd put this out there.
