Thank you for the last two replies, it clears up who Audrey was, obviously Marjory's child from first marriage.  She would have been 24yrs when her mum emmigrated.
Also thanks for finding the marriage cert for Marjorie to Frank, I had looked so don't know how I missed it.
Lots of questions now answered.

Audrey Birkinshaw married James J Lynch March 1/4 1944 N. Cotswold vol 6a page 943

They are on the 1949 electoral roll in Oz and living at the address in Mosman that was given by Frank and Marjorie as their contact address so they emigrated before Marjorie and Frank.

Hello. New to site and noticed you had been seeking info re Frank Porteus. I am his first born Barbara Helen born 1st march 1930 in York England. Father and mother Helen nee Hardie divorced. Frank married Marjory and were in Blackpool having a small cafeteria before emigrating to Bondi Beach AU circa 1949. He ceased contact with all u.k. family after the death of his mother. I'm curious as to whether I have any siblings/step relatives. Aware he is buried Gungahlin Cemetery Mitchell 1991 as is his second wife a year or two later. Plus any kinfolk whatsoever, apart from 2 cousins in Lincolnshire with whom I'm in contact.
Regards Barbara

I started this thread as my next door neighbour who is Frank's niece decided that she would like to know what had happened to her uncle. Her mother, Frank's sister, died in the 1980s and her sister, your cousin, died about 8 years ago. As my neighbour is your first cousin you may like to make contact but I will need to ask her. From my research and from what you say you were born in York, I wonder if you still live there, if so you have been living very near to one another all these years. I will get back to you.
Regards Thornwood

Wonder if Barbara has missed the replies on the other thread, there could be living relatives/ step relatives in Australia?

Hope I have this right. Thornwood you are being most helpful. Thanks buddie. Is the cousin of mine related to Nora or the other of my Dad's sister who also lived in York. Also a sister of Dad's was in Scarthoe nr Grimsby whom I'm in contact with those two cousins If it's the Nora family I would be delighted to contact as last saw them living Haxby direction many years ago. No I have not lived York since a teenager and reside happily in highlands Scotland. Please convey my regards to the lady. New to the site and easily "kerfuffled"
Cheers
