There were more children
1901 census the family were living at Lyne Hill farm, Penkridge
Joseph Bate 56
Mary Ann Bate 52
Mary Adelaide 28
Joseph Hart 24
Augusta Helen 20
George Frederick 18
Frank Hubert 7

On the 1911 census, it says they had 7 living children and 1 who had died

There are quite a few pictures of Frank Hubert Bate on Ancestry including one with his wife Ethel and two children, Eric and Joseph J. You could probably access the Ancestry website at your local library

I agree lovely pictures.

In case you dont have this. Going back to Josephs likely Parents.

Marriage Reg Dec 1839, West Bromwich, 18 696
Benjamin BATE and Sarah HART on same page

Baptisms;
Centenary Wesleyan Methodist Chapel Stafford Street,, Walsall, Staffordshire
ELIN, 24 Oct 1841 age 7 weeks
JOSEPH, 20 April 1845 age 2mths*****
LOUISA, 17 Aug 1848, birth 23 April 1848
SARAH REBECCA, 19 Oct 1851, birth 29 May 1850
ELIZABETH ANN, 5 June 1853, birth 30 April 1853
BENJAMIN HART, 6 Nov 1856, birth 8 Oct 1856

1841 Census in Walsall;
Benjmain Bate, 20
Sarah Bate, 20
Living next door are;
Elizabeth Hart, 60, Buckle/Button Maker+ Jane/Susannah/Martha/Jane Hart

BENJAMIN Bate was likely Bapt 9 Nov 1817, St Thomas, Dudley Staffs, Staffordshire to JOSEPH/REBECCA
Fathers Occp Joiner

You would need the 1839 M/C to confirm his Fathers name/occp

Also I think this is likely;
SARAH Hart Bapt 28 Sept 1821, St Matthew, Walsall
Parents WILLIAM/ELIZABETH
Fathers Occp Bucklemaker
Siblings;
JANE, 4 Jan 1802
ANN, 21 Nov 1803
ELIZA, 26 Sept 1806
HARRIATT, 1 April 1809
SUSANNA, 4 Jan 1811
MARTHA, 11 June 1815

The Siblings match 1841 Census with Mother Elizabeth living next door to Benjamin and Sarah Bate.

WILLIAM Bate buried same Church 20 Sept 1832 age 58 (birth c 1774)

Possible Marriage;
William HART to Elizabeth RODEN, 29 November 1800, Birmingham, Warwick, England
(Source Familysearch.Org)

Looks good as we have on FreeREG;
ELIZABETH Rhoden Bapt 18 Oct 1779, St Peter, Wolverhampton to WILLIAM/HANNAH
Siblings Bapt 1778 to 1790
(FreeREG)

Marriage same Church, 22 Nov 1777, William RHODEN to Hannah SPITTLE
(FreeREG)

I always use the old site to start as it is easier to use then the new one;

I have a couple of books on Penkridge.One is Penkridge 1930-1970,it mentions a lot of people who lived there.1956,there were a couple of Bates.Joseph Bate,Yew Tree Cottage,AND John Bate,The Marsh.I will look through this book and see what i can find.There are a lot of farms,i think that might be a clue.Glenys
