Great Grand Father - Master Mariner Born Scotland
« on: Sunday 19 February 17 04:08 GMT (UK) »
Looking for a death of John Campbell, Master Mariner, born Scotland 1826.  He was sailing in US waters according to site "Mystic Seas" as Captain of ship "Bon Accord".  Trying to find his place and date of death sometime between 1871 and 1886.  His Wife re-married in 1886.
Kind regards

Do you have any other information - name of wife?, Children?, where did his wife re-marry?

You say death after 1871 - do you have 1870 census?  was he living in US?

Hi,

Within the records set "Deaths at Sea, 1781-1968", on FindMyPast there is the following:

Name: John Campbell

Birth Year: 1827

Death Year: 1886

Vessel Name: Excelsior

Archive References: BT156 & BT157

Whether this is him I don not know, as I do not have access to the documents at present.

These records are on ancestry as well under "UK, Register of Births, Marriages and Deaths at Sea, 1844-1890". There looks to be three records here. Was he resident in Swansea?

Hope this helps.

Kind regards

David
