There is a death on "SP" in 1914 for a Catherine MacKenzie Macdonald aged 55 in Hutchesontown that might fit, as her mother's surname was MacKenzie.

My comp must be playing tricks as I'm not finding this death.

She should actually be registered under both maiden & marital surnames?

Annie

Edit...To add, found her indexed as.... MACDONALD CATHERINE MCKEN (I'd used the full name) & she's not registered under her marital/former husbands surname.

He was a hotel porter at the St Enoch Station Hotel. Gustave was a waiter, and Elizabeth a lady's companion. The hotel was demolished in 1977 and replaced by a shopping centre.

Not sure this really helps me locate his grandson mind you....

Aye....

She would be likely to revert to her maiden name after divorce, unless she was living in sin and took the name of her bidie-in, in which case I'll never find her unless I locate the divorce papers.

As far as I'm aware, if a married/divorced/widowed woman dies in Scotland, the informant is asked if she was known by any other name/surname but depending on who registered her death, that info. may not have been known & she's not registered under any other surname or the Reg. no. would be the same.
