Thomas Cheshire
« on: Sunday 19 February 17 16:55 GMT (UK) »
Not sure if I post this here or another board but i'll put it here because the person in question is from Leicester.
Thomas Cheshire born 1811 Leicestershire..poss..Carlton, Market Bosworth,
I have seen the record online where he was convicted of burglary and in 1852 got sentenced to 10 years transportation.
I found on another tree that he died..... Unite Hospital Ship, Greenwich 1864
I'm not sure if that was a convict ship or a hospital ship in Greenwich.
Wondered if anyone could help.
I am assuming from 1852 to 1864 he had done his 10 years
I thought if they were transported somewhere they didn't come back to England.
Is there anywhere I could look to find out if he was transported?

Sorry , I know nothing about the specifics of Thomas or this ship. But I'm pretty sure that transported convicts could return once their time was up. Most didn't choose to though!
