Seeking death of Raoul Jules BOUVIER
« on: Sunday 19 February 17 17:30 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to help a fellow researcher here in France fin the death of her great-grandfather, possibly in the UK.

Here is what she knows :

Raoul Jules BOUVIER was born 22 Junz 1864 Rochefort (Charente-Maritime) to Jules  and Alphonsine Marie née AURIOUX.  He married Marie Julia MERCIER 6 Auigust 1892 at Fitz-James (Oise) and they divorced 28 November 1906.  He was a cook/chef.

In March 1901 he went to England following the death of his employer in Paris and worked for Mr Leonard D CUNCLIFFE, a merchant banker of Juniper Hill, Dorking, Surrey.

From documents provided at the time of the marriages of the children of his first marriage we also know that in 1914 he was living at 7 Cadogan Street, London. In 1920 he was living in London (no other details) and working as a head cook.  In 1922 he was in Forres, Scotland and in 1924 was working at the Clarendon Hotel, Oxford.

I found a second marriage at Doncaster Register Office on 21 February 1917 to Nellie HOPKIN aged 23 daughter of Henry HOPKIN, coal miner, residence of both parties 102 Furlong Road, Bolton-on-Dearne.

Must have pressed a wrong key there as I hadn't finished my message!

Nellie HOPKIN BOUVIER married Thomas RIDLEY 4th Quarter 1937 Doncaster Registration District so Raoul must have died unless they had divorced.

I have found several probable and possible descendants of Raoul and Nellie BOUVIER.  They appear to have remained in the Doncaster area for several generations, hence my enquiry here.

I have not found any possible death 1924-1937, nor could I find Raoul BOUVIER in the 1911 census or in any other records (I subscribe to the major commercial sites).

Any additional sighting of Raoul BOUVIER would be of interest.

Sorry to have been so lengthy but I don't want anyone to go to the trouble of looking for information we already have.

Not much help, but I see that on the death of Mr Cosmo Charles Gordon-Lennox, of George St, Portman Square, London (an actor and playwright, son of Lord Alexander Gordon-Lennox and husband of Miss Marie Tempest) he left £50 in his will to "his chef, Raoul Bouvier".

Thank you AVM.  Every little helps.
Sorry you took the trouble to find info we already had due to my typing error which posted my half-finished message.  Not at all sure how that happened.
