Thank you for all your help, but it's not her. On the marriage cert it says Albert. We are from Birmingham, but this Beatrice was from around Leyton same as Maurice as far as we know.
If I could see who was at 17 Dawlish Road low Leyton Essex in 1911 census.
Thats the address she gave, although it's 30years later! Such a long shot.

You could do a free address search in the 1939 Register on findmypast. It would give you one or two names.
I would imagine that looking in 1911 would not help a great deal.
However, try going to "1911 England Census Summary Books" on ancestry, and put in Leyton as either a keyword or as the sub registration district, and 17 Dawlish in "street address". That may help you, it should give you at least a surname.

But what happened to Beatrice Edwards? Did they have children, divorce, have you found a death for her?

Does it give an occupation for Albert on the marriage certificate?

Do you know that for certain, or is it just a theory? She may have moved to that area for work.

No no occupation on wedding certificate, just a blank space. She walked out when Alan was 4, never to be heard of again. Other than we know she has passed away, don't know how Alan got told that. Maurice remarried. So there must be a divorce records.

We need to be a bit careful here as I presume her son is still alive?

I can't see any births though of an Edwards with mother maiden name Fenwick, something very odd going on here. Does it definitely say that her father was Albert Fenwick or does it just say Albert?

So that rules out that it was a second marriage. Of course it is possible that the father's name was made up and she was illegitimate, but that doesn't explain why we can't find a birth.

After Beatrice disappeared,Alan remained with his father until he remarried. Then he was put in a children's home.
