Help with Edward Phillips Addison
« on: Sunday 19 February 17 22:29 GMT (UK) »
Hi

Edward Phillips Addison was a comedian born c1813 in Devonport, Devon, England according to Census entries. He was the father of actresses Fanny Addison and Carlotta Addison. The Addisons appeared to travel about a lot.

I'm am struggling to find a birth for him, I'm wondering if he wasn't born an ADDISON.

His Obituary says (Haddy) after his name ?  See the attachment below.

I'm hoping someone may be able to point me in the right direction.

Thanks Laura

He presumably died ca.1879 Plymouth but I cannot see a death entry in this name in the deaths index?

Have now found his death entry in 1874 which, if he was then 66 would make a birth year circa 1808.

Carlotta's obitury referred to her father working with Charles Kean. I can find a number of references to Mr Kean and a Mr Addison in the same company, but no first name. Kean also appeared alongside a Laura Kean, who died in the US in 1851 - no idea if she is linked
