Hi may be posting all that is already known :-

Edward Phillps Haddy burial Ford Park Cemetery Walled Grave Section E No: 19 Row 14 address 6, Queen Street, Plymouth, St Peter 18th April 1874 aged 65

Thanks for this, it looks like a good match, Why would his death have been registered as Addison and his burial as Haddy though?, and i wonder where the Addison surname came from. Can't just be a stage I wouldn't have thought as his children were registered under Addison.

Hi is he the Edwd Addison 62 occ Actor b Devonport with daughters in Brecknock Crescent,  St Pancras in 1871?
Census ref RG10/236/16/26
Keyboard86

Yes I believe this to be him and daughters Frances and Carlotta

Hi again, for my own peace of mind who was the mother of all the children GRO Index suggests mmn Ingham, in 1851 Edward 40 Unmarried occ Comedian b Devonport is again in St Pancras HO107/1493/945/72

Keyboard86

Carlotta appears to have been baptised on the 05 Nov 1864 in Bordesley, Warwickshire. Her mother is simply listed as Elizabeth.

Very curious about the Addison surname though, wonder why he used it instead of Haddy. I wonder if his Mother remarried and he changed it? It was obviously well known as all death notices that I can find for his show (Haddy) after his name
thanks for the help, I really appreciate it  :)

Hi

in 1861 Frances and Carlotta are at 87, Sidwell Street, St David, Exeter, Devon, England as lodgers. Professions are shown as actress at theatre and assistant at theatre. The head of the household is James Mason a 49 year old Provision Dealer.

No sign of the Mother at all. I can't find her anywhere.

Thanks again

:) I love looking at online trees which appear to be well researched some have the mother of the children as an Elizabeth Hoyle who dies from the GRO Index as Elizabeth Addison March qtr 1849 Birmingham aged 27?
Children I have checked on have mmn Ingham.

Note Claude Alfred and Frances Pauline were baptised 1864 and 1865 St Pancras, so would assume mother was still alive 1865?

An Edward Phillips Haddy married a Harriet Anny Fanny Scott Waring at St Nicholas Brighton on 22 Aug 1838.

She appears to have died on 4 Jul 1875 as Haddy, so perhaps she and Edward were still married and he never married Elizabeth the mother of the Addison children.

Has anyone found them in 1841.

By 1861 Harriet is a landholder, married. address 1 Claremont Place, St Pancras. One servant listed with her. can;t see her on 1871 yet

When she dies her address is 1 Claremont place, Judd St. She says she's a widow. her will was proved by Frederick Wiedenbach Whichelo of Cottage of Content, Rodney Road, Loxfields, Walworth. Effects under £1500

1871 there is a Fannie Haddy, comedienne b Norwich c1835, unmarried, staying with Frederick Whichelo (aged 54) and his family at the Gore Arms (I think) approach Road, Bethnal Green. She is described as "friend". Frederick is from Brighton

John Thurlow Scott Waring's will is on ancestry - he died in 1845. My skills with legal writing aren;t great, but I can see it makes provision regarding his married daughter Harriet Fannie Annie, wife of Edward Phillips Haddy, and that he takes lengths to ensure any monies go to her hands and not that of her present or any future husband

(not that I am sure he had much money to leave - he was bankrupted in the 1820s)
