I wonder this could be Dominick in 1901?  Could his brother Edward be listed as James??  :-\

Thank you all very much indeed. I'm very grateful for your hard work.

I've tried using James as a potential first name search for Edward Smith and turned up nothing yet. Hopefully the Irish connection will prove useful and fruitful. It makes much more sense. 8 Turkey Street is a prodominantly Irish immigrant area, the house in 1901 is  a guesthouse run by the Durkins who are Irish, and mainly seem to take irish lodgers. Harriet Nilon was the daughter of a  Sligo man, and Patrick Fleming, her second Husband was from Roscommon.

Still no closer, as yet, to finding his death and resolving his short life. At least we didn't find him living in NYC as well as bigamist!!

Thank you again.x.

Interesting. Could well be. I'll try and dig up a bit more on Thomas as well to see if I can secure the link. Great find.

I've tried a bit more on the death - still nothing. Bit of a wandering labourer....
