Freereg2 security certificate
« on: Monday 20 February 17 17:08 GMT (UK) »
Is anyone having problems with freereg2.  Both chrome & IE are throwing up a message about the security certificate, it appears to be linked to freebmd. I am not having any problems accessing freebmd though.  I have been having this for a few days now.

No problem with FreeReg, but I too get the message on freereg2 - never used it.  FreeReg is definitely linked to FreeBMD, perhaps freereg2 isn't!   :-\
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Yes similar Rosie.  I assume the FreeReg2 security certificate has expired and needs to be renewed.  However don't know how to contact website to notify owners of this.

Thank you Stan, that is a reassuring that it is not just me. I will keep away from it then  ;D

Thank you BumbleB, I will just go back to using the old freereg until it is sorted.  I know others on here also still prefer the old site.

The certificate hasn't expired, it's just that they haven't included freereg2 into the server certificate yet. The certificate is for the other freebmd and freecen parts of the site.

It is the genuine freereg site, it's running on the same servers.

You can still use the site, as long as you accept that the information you put in isn't encrypted.

Obviously you wouldn't accept that for a site selling things and taking your credit card information or dealing in sensitive your private information or medical details.  :)

I've ignored the warning and used the site, though it's only in recent days that the warning has appeared 😀
