Richard Noble baptised Bermondsey 1803 - need information
« on: Monday 20 February 17 18:02 GMT (UK) »
I am searching for the life story of the above, baptised on 3 April 1803, Bermondsey, parents Richard & Mary Noble.  He is not the artist Richard Noble (1805-1882) born in Old Charlton, Kent (parents Mark & Susannah) or the artist Richard Pratchett Noble (1814-1892). He is also not the Richard Noble who died in 1837, married to Charlotte, who helpfully left a will.
His father Richard was a cordwainer in 1803, and died on 1 July 1838  when he was running the George IV pub in Pimlico.  Father Richard was assignee for young Richard's bankruptcy in 1835,  and mentions his name in the margin of his will written in 1837, so young Richard was still around in 1837.
The bankruptcy information says he was a corn chandler.  Otherwise I can find nothing about him - help please if the name rings a bell.  Thank you.

Emigration is a possibility. Have tried to search in NAAIRS but the search facility isn't working today.

Many thanks for an excellent lead to the 1841 census.  Thanks to that in the Gazette I  found  Richard was in money trouble again in 1843 as Livery Stable Keeper & Cabriolet Proprietor, of the Hero of Waterloo Livery Stable in Waterloo Rd, and noted as late of Sutton St and York Road, Lambeth, which ties in with the 1841 address.   The Mary noted with him could have been a wife, or his sister Mary who was always in delicate health and ended up in Peckham Asylum.  I had found  her living with family members up to a couple of years before her death, except in 1841.
The search continues........
Again, thank you for your help.

Again thanks - I can't find him on the 1851 census - I had noticed this possible death, but without a certificate no proof - I may actually have to get one from the GRO!

Thanks for your kind response.   I had looked at that marriage but no proof of course.  I thought if it was the right one they must have had children by 1841, but as we know some couples did not.  Also two of his brothers had partners but unhelpfully were not married to them..........
