Global size limit of the server Your account with SMTP2Go has been closed
« on: Tuesday 21 February 17 11:27 GMT (UK) »
I've started to receive this message every time I attempt to send an email.  I use Mozilla Thunderbird which I've done for some years without any problems.  I can receive emails as usual.  Just wondering if it's virus - am currently doing a scan with Microsoft Security Essentials.  Has anyone else seen anything like this?

By the way, the message must be nonsense as the emails I'm attempting to send are just a few words, no attachments

"The size of the message you are trying to send exceeds the global size limit of the server. The message was not sent; reduce the message size and try again. The server responded:  Your account with SMTP2Go has been closed. Please signup for a new account."

Anyone got any comments?

Are you deliberately using SMTP2Go?
Do you have a free account or a paid account?

Their FAQ says:
Free accounts come with a monthly allowance of 1,000 emails, and an hourly limit of 25 emails. Paid accounts have no hourly limit, and your monthly allowance is based on the plan you choose.

Perhaps somebody else has your login credentials for the email service and are sending out spam using your email address somewhere or other.

PS I've updated the subject title just in case somebody else has the same error message, and so they can find this topic and help you.

Thank you for the responses.

I don't pay anything for email - I'm not even sure what SMTP2Go is!  I wonder if I've exceeded the monthly limit for free accounts?  Will have a hunt about!

Thanks for changing the title - makes more sense!

appreciate your input - thank you   :)

Think I've just solved it.

Have done a "system restore" back to a state pre the most recent Microsoft critical update and all seems fixed.

So something that was updated by Microsoft disagreed with Thunderbird.

Haven't a clue why or what, just glad I can now send an email!

It's good that a going back to a restore point has fixed it for you.

You'll probably need to keep an eye on this next time you do an update. :)
