On line records Hawnby and Bilsdale
« on: Wednesday 22 February 17 15:06 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone know of any on line records for Bilsdale and Hawnby 1600s and 1700s?

I am re-starting research on the Flyntofte (various spellings) and Barr families.  I have data which was compiled for me around 1990 from visits to archives, record offices, etc., not work I did myself so am trying to confirm what I have.

Maybe I am not looking correctly but I can find nothing (or very little) on FindMyPast, Family-search, or Ancestry index.

Suggestions would be appreciated,

Many thanks

The page for Hawnby on GenUKI mentions transcriptions of Christenings and Marriages.
There are links. ;D
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/YKS/NRY/Hawnby/index.html

Otherwise, there is a page showing where the Parish Registers may be found:

The Chapelry of Bilsdale has it's own page re whereabouts of the parish registers:

GenUKI is usually my first port of call if I want to find where PRs are! ;D
Some counties are up-to-date; others less so. But it's a start.

In theory FindMyPast have BT's from 1608 for Hawnby and 1609 for Bilsdale.  Parish records earlier for Bilsdale but later for Hawnby.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

The earliest record I have is a birth or baptism for William Flintoft 14 December 1591 son of Thomas Flyntofte  (no dates for Thomas).

As I recall these records were obtained for me by a cousin who visited Northallerton.

Unfortunately being in South Africa visiting Northallerton - or any U.K. depositories - is not an option.

The Genuki records look as is they will be of assistance, but sadly are a little later than I was hoping for.

Many thanks for help and suggestions.
