Birth date for Jonas Todd 1837-1867

Hi, can anyone help with an exact birth date for Jonas Todd

He was born in 1837 and baptised on May 7 1937. Father Jonas Todd Mother Mary Horner Gardner. FindMyPast only has a transcript and has ?? for the birth date.

Interesting character this one. He died on May 30th 1867 in a major mining accident. The inquest was covered by the Times newspaper.

The inquest suggested he had a wife and 2 children but I have not been able to prove this. GRO does have a marriage reference, but when the certificate arrived, it show that Elizabeth Jane Whitfield actually married Jonas's brother, Robert Gardner Todd!

Hi Dave, I can see the two brothers on Dec qtr 1863 Gateshead 10a 775 so who did the Isabella Sarah Dance marry on same page?

It seems Isabella remarried 1871

Oooo! 2 brothers marrying 2 sisters???

It is quite possible that the GRO index has confused the 2 brother with the 2 sisters.

It looks like Isabella Sarah Whitfield married Roger dance and had a daughter Elizabeth dance

then she married Jonas Todd and had a son Edward Todd

then she married Thomas Blackburn and had more children

maybe the 2 children referred to at the inquest were Elizabeth and Edward (Edward being Jonas'son and Elizabeth from a previous marriage

1871 the two children are with their Whitfield Grandparents
