William Carr or Kerr
« on: Thursday 23 February 17 00:05 GMT (UK) »
My great grandfather, William Carr or Kerr was born in Ireland in 1826 according to his death certificate which was issued in Buffalo, NY.  I believe that he was born in Belfast and that he has a sister by the name of Mary Ann Cassidy.  I believe he may have been a stray in England in 1841. He became a citizen of US in 1868.  He was a ropemaker in the US.  I cannot find any info as to birth or marriage certificate. His sister lived at 12 Tern St., Victoria Down according to the 1901 Census.

Hi Marg,

"My great grandfather, William Carr or Kerr was born in Ireland in 1826"

"His sister lived at 12 Tern St., Victoria Down according to the 1901 Census"

You don't say who Mr Cassidy is?

The marriage may give her father's name & occupation?

I don't know Mr. Cassidy's name.  This is my first time on this site.  How would I move my post to the Ireland Down board?

Mary Ann Cassidy in 1901 census- age 70, Presbyterian, born Belfast, widowed-

Why do you think that Mary Ann Cassidy was William's sister?

Possibly same Mary Ann Cassidy in 1911 census although she's 15 years older than in 1901-

A Jane Cassidy married (1891 Belfast) James Campbell- her father John Cassidy, weaver-
