Farnsworth Family
« on: Thursday 23 February 17 00:49 GMT (UK) »
Hi I'm searching for information on children might been brought to United States from England in 1930's. I'm trying to locate information on my grandmother Marilyn Farnsworth. I know she was in Ohio at Orphanage St Anthonys was adopted. I have reason to believe either her parents are from England or that she was born there. Anyone might have information please let me know.

she born June 29th, 1934 Location unknown
date of death August 25th, 2008
place of death Norwalk, Ohio

It states her adopted parents were John and Alice (McEnroe) Huber.

Her children are
(*)

I haven't been able to get copy of adoption records for Ohio yet. I am working on this. Any information on Farnsworth name even would be helpful.

Hi

There is no birth registration under that name in England or Wales.  If she was born 29th June - her birth would have been registered in the September qtr (ie) 1st July - 30th Sept

I'm confused
1940 census of St Anthony's orphanage Ohio
Hilda Huber 12
Mary Huber 11
Helen Huber 8
Ronald Huber 7
*Marilyn Huber 5
Joan Huber 4            all born Norwalk, Huron County, Ohio

Were they children of a related family member who had died?.
According to the dates given by junglegympoet88 the obituary states Marilyn married a Hopkins first her children are all Hopkins, then married Richard Farnsworth 29 December 1983. She was then 49 he was 64.

There are 148 children in the orphanage in 1940 none by the name Farnsworth.
The person requesting info seems to have his/her notes muddled up. The birth and death dates are for Marilyn Huber married Hopkins, married Farnsworth.

Just out of curiosity I checked the Ohio birth index and social security death index
Hilda Tillie was born 30 July 1927 died 1 November 1999
Mary Ann born 31 March 1929 died 15 October 2002
Helen Hatie/Hedwig born 4 April 1931 died 17 April 2003

The above I found definite birth certificates with parents Joseph Huber and Tillie Pletzer, who married 19 February 1927 both age 21 Lucus County Ohio. In 1930 they are together with Hilda age 2 transcribed as 21 and Mary age 0 and a brother Carl Huber age 23.

Ronald I'm not sure about Huber was a very common name in Ohio, however who ever gave the
information about his parents for his death certificate gave John Huber and Alice McEnroe, the family he had always known as his parents. Born 11 July 1932 died 23 July 2009 death cert.

John Lavern Huber married Alice McEnroe 10 October 1929 both age 19.
In 1940 they are together with a son Gerard age 3 (born 1937) no other children.

Marilyn born 29 June 1934
Joan born 10 July 1935
These girls have father listed as Lavern, John's middle name from the Ohio birth index.

I could not find Joseph and Tillie Huber in 1940.

Joseph Huber died 15 June 1931 Lucas County Ohio.
His widow Tillie Huber married Fred Pero 3 November 1933 in Wood County Ohio.
Tillie was a domestic age 27 and gave her father a F. Platzer.

In case you haven't already made progress on this, original birth certificates for adoptees born in Ohio in this time frame are available to descendants, as explained here - https://www.odh.ohio.gov/en/vitalstatistics/legalinfo/adoptpri

The reference to Norwalk was where they were living in 1935, rather than where they were born.
