George and Hetty WORGAN, Forest of Dean , first half of 20th century
« on: Thursday 23 February 17 11:18 GMT (UK) »
Hello, I have been trying to find 1911 Census records  for my paternal grandmother's parents, George and Hetty (Ethel) Worgan. I know they met and married in Staffordshire, but moved to the Cinderford area before 1911, to look for work. By that time they had 2 or possibly three, daughters. There are several George Worgans recorded as living in the Forest of Dean at this particular time, but none with daughters (Hetty/Ethel, Lillian, and possibly Gladys). Any information very much appreciated

Thank you. Yes, that's him. I was never sure if Aunty Lil was Lily or Lilian, but now I know.

No, Hetty's maiden name was Gamble; I have census records for her and her parents Henry and Jane.
Thank you for your help

The 1911 entry has been transcribed wrong.
FindMyPast have it the same as the familysearch entry I posted
Ancestry has it as surname Victor.

If you look at the entry which I am not allowed to transcribe for you due to copyright you will see that there is writing after the surname which both sites have transcribed as the surname and wrongly.

Aah, well that explains why I couldn't find them! I wondered if they had been living in a cave at the time (there were some habitable ones near George's aunt's house at Soudley). Thank you so much

Glad they did not have to resort to living in a cave  ;D
