Watched it last night.  Interesting insights on the end of the Raj and the beginnings of Bangladesh.

Yes, I learnt a lot I didn't know about.

It was an interesting watch and she met some interesting people. I would have liked to have known what happened to the family that left the old house, I find it hard to believe that they couldn't have been found somewhere. Perhaps they were contacted but didn't want to appear?
;D Doing my best, but frequently wrong ;D
:-* My thanks to everyone who helps me, you are all marvellous :-*

Yes, watched it last night too. Found it interesting and found it very sad at the demise of the family.
I too wondered why they'd not found any surviving family, but as you say perhaps they didn't want to appear on camera.
Am I correct in saying that the WDYTYA W'boro site sometimes post further info that's not used in the programmes?

To say I enjoyed such a sad tale is wrong, but the Journey was really interesting.  Very unexpected in some areas, and I sure was 'fillin up' towards the end.

Yes and educational in so many ways.

Like she said herself 'it was only just back then'  not that long ago.

...ponderous....

The thought of going through the areas where her ancestors lived, that is what I want to do with mine.

I too had a great granny burn to death - albeit mine was through carrying an oil lamp..

Yep well researched and interesting.

Hi,
Very enjoyable and informative.  Learned a lot about the end of the Raj and the partitioning and the Pakistan/Bangladesh troubles.
Couldn't help but wonder what this programme cost to make.

I had a gt Aunt that died in a house fire with one of her sons in Dec of 1914 just before Christmas. The newspaper articles about it made for very grim reading as one was quite descriptive. Poor lady she had lost her husband some years.
