Doris Booth

I help in a Charity Shop and we have a hand written tour book by a Doris Booth, from Harlow, Essex. She went on this tour 1965/1966 to America and New Zealand. If anyone has any information about Doris I would be interested also if they would be interested in purchasing the book that would be fine.

Hi

As little is known about her - she could still be alive so we have to be careful about info published

Is there anything in the book to indicate if she was married or single at the time of the tour?

I am hazarding a guess that she may have died and her house cleared and contents given to charity.

Hi,

I do have more information i.e Her address in Harlow at that time and her next of Kin which could of been her Daughter. Reading through the book I think she was a teacher in Harlow, Essex she also enjoyed singing so could of been a music teacher. I feel that she has possible died and that is how the book landed up in a Charity Shop but it is in Norfolk perhaps she retired here as many people do from Essex.
It seems a shame to discard it she must have a Relative somewhere.

Just wildly guessing but there's a death for a Doris BOOTH in 1977 Epping. She seems to have lived at 135 Rivermill in Harlow.

Going by her dob- Aug 12 1899- and a free search of the 1939 register-it looks like her husband was Ernest W BOOTH. They were in Runcorn U.D.

There's a marriage in Manchester (on A*try) 1925 for Doris PRATT occ:teacher-father John Wiilliam PRATT and Ernest William BOOTH occ:Dentist.

Looks like just one child- a daughter-initials C.B.

Anything match up??

Maureen

Yes the top address is the same as I have in this book if she died in 1977 in Epping that is a long way from Norfolk  and also a long time ago the next of kin I wonder if she moved to Norfolk?.

Well,at least we know who Doris was!

It might be best if you removed the name of the next of kin from your post-just in case she's still living.

I wondered about that 1977 death when I saw it but because it was 40yrs ago I thought it was too long for belongings to have been hanging around.  Shows how wrong you can be!!

Well done Maureen  8)
