I now have a map of Clive and know where he lived after his discharge from the army.  My father says he was granted land due to his service in the army, but I haven't been able to find information to confirm this.

I've also found information in the publication  "Discharged in New Zealand".  This gives his 99th regiment number as 2612 and his 65th regiment number as 3751.  His place of enlistment and trade at enlistment and enlistment date are blank!  He was discharged, in Napier, on 30 September 1859, on the completion of his service (what was the usual length of service?).  Regimental numbers 2606, 2610, 2613 and 2620 all have enlistment dates in 1852, suggesting he enlisted in 1852.

I have searched the land grants and have not managed to locate your Thomas.  I also searched the NZ Medals lists and had no luck there either. However, I will keep him on my radar. cheers
