I think the other one might be Woodside of Whinty (Whynty), Boyndie.

J, I suspect that the suggestions above, might be on the money, but you should request a clearer copy of any illegible certificates from Scotland's People.

They are very obliging.

A clearer copy will confirm if the above are correct.  :)

Thanks all. Yes its Scotland and Boyndie, Banffshire which is north east is correct.

The top line on the left does say domestic servant. The bottom two lines on the left are normally where the parents' date and place of marriage are listed but they were not married.

On the right it says John Spalding father, but again the bottom two are key.

Basically this John Spalding completely disappears. The mother is Anne Barclay whom he never marries. This cert is their son, also John. Years later when their son marries he is listed as reputed father.

isobelw,

You did well on that, thanks as my eyes were coming together  ;D

Robbi,

You haven't given us a date which would help locate those places from isobel on maps as different maps show/don't show different places i.e. dates can help locate them as boundaries changed over the years?

Best I can find (hopeless with maps)

https://canmore.org.uk/site/293467/wooside-of-whyntie (now Banff, Boyndie Airfield)

Would have been good to see a pic of the farm.
