Thought I would look at "Family Search" but, it's down for maintenance.

Have been on the GRO  webpage and there is just the one death for John Fleming 1921 so, I am going order it - fingers crossed it will be the right one.

Also had a look for Joseph's birth 1884, none - but as I don't know where in England he was born I am not going to find him  :'(

I looked for Joseph as well yesterday and couldn't see either post 1891.

I suppose it is possible that he was a son of John's but as he wasn't married at the time that child might have been registered under the mother's name.   John was living in Carlisle I think in 1891

Thank you for looking for me. I agree that Joseph could be John's son but, isn't going to be easy to find either of them. I wonder if I should post on the Carlisle forum to see if anyone can help.

I think this may be Mary in 1891  living in Govan??

Lillias Gillespie 32 b Lochmaben, Dumfriesshire
John Gillespie 10
James Gillespie    1
Mary Fleming 14 Niece  b Newton Stewart, Wigtownshire
Joseph Fleming    7  Nephew b  England

After finding Lillias's death in 1893 - Glasgow, two years after her sister Margaret died - I am curious to know where Mary FLEMING now 16yrs and Joseph FLEMING 9 yrs. would go.
Had a look at the 1901 census (shown in earlier post) for Jane/Janet COWAN (Lillias and Margaret's sister) to see if they were staying there. No

ADD   On Lillias's death certificate, Janet Cowan (sister) was the informant -174 Rose Street, South, Glasgow.

Both Joseph and Mary disappear post 1891 and as far as I can see they don't appear to be living with any aunts or uncles.  Mary might have married pre 1901 but no obvious ones.

Yes, I have been searching for them. I too thought perhaps they were living with relatives.

Joseph was only 9 years old. Sad as it is,would he have gone into the poor house or a Boys Industrial School.

Looks as if I'll need to visit to the Mitchell Library in Glasgow.

Just back from the Mitchell Library in Glasgow and got some information 3 pages - and they are going to photo copy them and post them to me.

Joseph was in the poor house and latterly in an Industrial School 1895 - no more info after that. The girl said I should look at the Electoral Rolls on Scotlands People for him - not too sure about that, he would only be 11 years old.
