I think Lilias was another of the Gillespie siblings as below in 1881 in Lochmaben

Thomas Gillespie 54  Freestone Quarry Man b Tinwald, Dumfrieshire
Lillas Gillespie    22 Daughter Houskeeper
James Gillespie    18 Son
Thomas Gillespie 9 Grandson
Peter Gibson 6 Grandson
John B Gillespie    3 M Grandson

John B Gillespie    3 M Grandson

Could this Thomas Gillespie (above) be Margaret's father.

ADD   Sorry I have put your quote in twice.

I find it odd I can't get George Moffat FLEMING &  Margaret Gillespie's marriage certificate for 1876 or George's death certificate for 1891 from Scotlands People.

I did however, get Margaret Gillespie's death certificate for 1890. Also their son Thomas's  death certificate for 1954. He had a son who was the informant address - 94 Gorbals Street, Glasgow.

I can't find the marriage either on Scotlands People which is strange as some family tree's on Anc list it as 2 March 1876 at Dumfries St Michael, Dumfriesshire

Yes, that is where I got the information from. I would of thought his marriage would have been registered. He was married before - would that make any difference?
Then not getting his death entry for 1891, Dumfriesshire - does seem odd  :'(

Anc does  have the Gretna Green parish registers and a marriage in listed on 28 Oct 1873 between a Robert Gibson of the Parish of Urr, Kirkcudbrightshire and Margaret Gillespie of the Parish of Lochmaden

Robert Gibson b 1844 of Urr is still living in the parish of Urr in 1881 with no sign of a wife.   Maybe Margaret left her first husband and couldn't marry George :-\

That is an interesting find and could be the reason. On the 1881 census it has George 49 years old and spouse Margaret 29 years old and, could explain the age difference :-\

Doesn't explain why I can't find George's death, which is frustrating.
