BRADSHAW and HACKETT of Coolderry and Gurtnagoona and Kileroo.
« on: Monday 27 February 17 12:53 GMT (UK) »
Mary BRADSHAW from Coolderry married James HACKETT who was baptised at Gurtnagoona in 1822 at Borrissoleigh. His place of residence was Kileroo
I am looking for birth date, place and parents of Mary, and marriage and birth details of James' parents, Thomas HACKETT, farmer and Alice RYAN.

Ancestry shows several trees with both Mary and James born in 1811 but since I have found their marriage in 1822 at Borrissoleigh,  I think that this is most unlikely and I expect to find them born perhaps soon after 1800. James and his brother Patrick were both baptised in 1811 at Templemore so that is probably where the assumed birth date is from.

Any help with these Hacketts or Bradshaws is much appreciated.

They were married in 1822 25 November

I think he comes from Kileroe

The parish register only starts in 1814

As marriages usually happen in the brides parish it's likely she was from this parish so her baptism hasn't survived. (And probably James' as well)

Why do you think the James baptised in Templemore in 1811 is the same man?
It appears to be a normal baptism of new born twins.

The Tithe Applotment Books show 2 Bradshaw's in Coolderryvrin which I assume is Coolderry.

Only heads of household is listed in the Applotment books and only if their farm was large enough to pay a tithe.
No Hackett's listed in Kileroe but quite a few Hacket's in the general area

Thank you for your insight. It seems I was poorly influenced by other researchers as to James' birth. I am usually more careful than that!

I appreciate your help and all the links you have sent. It appears that finding the names of James and Mary's parents is unlikely.
Regards,
 Marie

Sadly that does appear to be the case.
It's a risk but sometimes the NLI register is a copy which the parish made up for them, RootsIreland's transcripts sometimes have more information as they have been know to use the register held in the church.
It's a subscription site and as you can see I'm trying to make it very clear that they quite possibly do not have any more information that the NLI site. They will not have earlier records but I'm thinking the marriage might have father's names.
