That's brilliant!

In 1881 - Ellen is Ellen Coleman b Atherton, Ireland.
I was wondering if it had been said or interpreted  as ''Atherlone'.

Thanks again to MyLuck and Heywood, great results as far as I am concerned.

I would certainly never have located the marriage or Eleanor’s baptism, so it’s a real bonus to have them.

Please excuse my ignorance of Irish records, but does the fact that the marriage took place in a Roman Catholic church help in possibly locating the birth/baptism of Francis.   It’s likely he was born into that faith and presumably that would help in locating when and where he was baptised in Mohill.

Eleanor would certainly be ‘ Ellen ‘ the first child of Francis and Ann. Heywood’s find regarding Ellen in the 1881 Census helps, I did not have this,  a young widow,  she was still living in the in the East End of London where the family settled. Younger brother Walter aged 23 years was living with her.

Ann’s surname looks from Irish records to be Lyster, as opposed to Lester, although, as with all records it very much depended the person recording the name.

It of course would be great to locate both Francis and Ann’s baptisms and parentage, so any further help or advice would be appreciated.

In the meantime I am extremely grateful for the help given, many  thanks.

Ian

Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

No problem Ian

Those early records are scarce and sometimes even finding a record doesn't mean it is correct

Hi MyLuck,

When I first found an Irish connection in my wife's line someone mentioned that it would be very difficult tracing back, it seems to be that way.

What has been encouraging is that you and others have taken the time to pursue this, therefore it was well worth asking for help in the first place.

It's all appreciated.

Ian
