Margaret Wilson
« on: Wednesday 01 March 17 15:09 GMT (UK) »
Hi there,
I am searching for some information on Margaret Wilson (nee Downey).  She was born about 1884 in Larne, but then came up to belfast in about 1907/1908, she married a man called John Wilson and had a number of childre (Cecil/Evelyn/Eileen/Reginald & a few more i think).  As of 1930 she lived in Park Avenue, Belfast and I believe that her husband was part of the Gillespie & Wilson furniture store.

if anyone can give me any help or guidance on finding out more about Margaret or her family it would be greatly appreciated :-)

Many thanks
Claire

Sinann - very interesting!

I wonder are there two couples named Downey/Wilson or did they wait a while to marry?!

I was just thinking the same thing, I can't see a marriage between 1900 and 1911.

Well lets see if we can collect children's births  and see if they hold any clues.
Samuel 1905 16 Victoria Ave, father Book Keeper

Mary 1909 44 Woodlee (?) St. Father Clerk

Cecil 1911 link above 77 Park Ave father Clerk

That's as far as we can go on Irish Genealogy.

The John WILSON on the 1915 was also a clerk

Shame this record just has Belfast for addresses

It was a church wedding. The Church may have more information.

The name Samuel is common to both the marriage, his father, and the Census as brother, but the marriage doesn't say if father is alive or not.

(I should double check that before I press post but my internet connection is acting up all evening)
