« on: Thursday 02 March 17 20:23 GMT (UK) »
Hi, List I,m looking  for the birth of Sarah Rowbottom, Iknow she married Richard Carr on 24 June
1779 at Darton,  In the parish register it says both of this parish and Sarah was a minor. However her birth is not in the PR.
Best Wishes Clive

Of this parish does not necessarily mean she was born there - just that she had lived there for the required time to marry there (ie) about 3 weeks

Any clues as to a birthyear?

Is she shown as a spinster on the marriage entry?

Hi, CaroleW
No clues, ndno mention of being a spinster, other than her husbands occupation (farmer) it says she was a minor
Thank you for the prompt reply

The phrase "of this parish" simply refers to where she was living at the time the banns were called?
It's quite possible that she was born in a different parish :-\
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

Hi, KGarrd and CaroleW, i have just looked on Genuki, and the distance from Penistone to Darton is
4.9 miles. A nice stroll.
her husband, Richard was born 1742, that with the FS you gave me CaroleW would make an 18 year age gap between them.
Thank you for both Replies
best wishes Clive
