First, I would like to state how astounded I am at the amount of information everyone provided already: I have dealt with other forums before that weren't anywhere near as helpful! Also, apparently, I need to learn how to write in a forum, as I have confused everyone, ha. Sorry about that!

AMBLY: Thank you for posting the clarifying information. My Edward Anderson is indeed the one you posted about, who traveled from Manchester to Bocholt to Killingly, CT. I know this information to be true, as I was working off of my mother's Great-Grandmother (Caroline Hoffman-Anderson) handwritten note my mother dug out a few years ago.

Also, I am certain of the generation, Richard Anderson c. 1801, would have been my mother's 3rd Great Grandfather. I was just typing quickly, as I was excited to finally find a forum! I will be sure to adhere to proper forum rules once I learn them in full; you would think, being 28, I would be okay with technology....not really, ha.

I will have to investigate the GREGORY information, as that it very interesting!
Does any one know how I would go about finding Edward ANDERSON c. 1824's first wife?

I do have more questions, but at this juncture, I think it is best that I learn how to post here. Also, let me just restate one more time, you guys are AWESOME! Thank you so much for the information and potential leads. I will have to piece this together tonight after my daughter goes to bed. Thank you thank you thank you!  ;D ;D ;D

Baptism at Papplewick St James (confirm's Sunflower's previous post)

1824 03 01   Son   Edward   father Richard   ANDERSON   mother Mary      Fathe'rs occ Cotton spinner

One more baptism at Papplewick for this couple:

1823 02 16   Dau   Sarah   Richard   ANDERSON   Mary      Cotton spinner

A likely marriage at Papplewick:

1822 12 01   Richard   ANDERSON   Mary   HARDWICK
Bradbury (Sedgeley, Bilston, Warrington)
Cooper (Sedgeley, Bilston)

I can only find one possible baptism in Nottinghamshire for a Richard Anderson b 1798-1806, and it's this one:

1801 03 22   Richard   father William   ANDERSON   mother Sarah            HUCKNALL TORKARD St Mary Magdalene

(Papplewick is close to Hucknall so this baptism is worth bearing in mind).

The disc confirms the marriage that Ambly has already given you above:

1828 06 30   George   GREGORY    and Mary   ANDERSON   PAPPLEWICK St James

but there are no Gregory children listed here.

Looking at the census records, this baptism at MANSFIELD St Peter and St Paul would match for Mary:

1804 07 11      Mary    father Edward   HARDWICK   mother Mary

There is only one other baptism listed for a child with parents of these names, and that was of a George in 1815, in Papplewick - so maybe the family moved there, it would place Mary in the right village!  (ETA - but George was buried in 1816 when his mother's name was given as Ann  :-\)
Bradbury (Sedgeley, Bilston, Warrington)
Cooper (Sedgeley, Bilston)
Kilner/Kilmer (Leic, Notts)
Greenfield (Liverpool)
Holyland (Anywhere and everywhere, also Holiland Holliland Hollyland)
Pryce/Price (Welshpool, Liverpool)
Rawson (Leicester)
Upton (Desford, Leics)
Partrick (Vera and George, Leicester)
Marshall (Westmorland, Cheshire/Leicester)

I think this is the widow of Richard ANDERSON, Papplewick - in 1851 & 1861 with her second husband George GREGORY & their children - no sign of any ANDERSON children. But, the last two GREGORY children - I think -  have mms surname recorded as HARDWICK for one, and ANDERSON, for the other:

1851: 4 Swainsley Court, Village of Milford, Duffield, Derbyshire

HO107 - Piece 2144 / Folio 161 / Pg25
Head: George GREGORY 47, Cotton Spinner, b Basford, Nottinghamshire
Wife: Mary 48, b Mansfield, Nottinghamshire
Son: William 21, unm, Bleacher,
Son: Alfred 18, unm, Cotton Spinner,
Son: Jabez 16, unm, Cotton Spinner,
Son: Levi 9, Bleacher & Scholar,
Dau: Ruth 11mo
All children, born Milford, Derbyshire

1861: 1 Warehouses, Village of Milford, Duffield, Derbyshire
RG 9 - Piece 2507 / Folio 77 / Pg13
Head: George GREGORY 54, Cotton Spinner, b Old Badford, Nottinghamshire
Wife: Mary 57, b Mansfield, Nottinghamshire
Son: Alfred 27, unm, Cotton Spinner,
Son: Jabaz 22, unm, Cotton Spinner,
Son: Levi 18, unm, Bleacher
Dau: Lucy 11, Bleacher,  (think this is "Ruth" in 1851)
All children, born Milford, Derbyshire

Milford comes under the Belper Registration District.
Two of those children, Levi and Lucy (Ruth),  were born after start of Civil registration:
GRO UK:
https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/indexes_search.asp

BIRTH: Levi GREGORY , reg Jun Qtr 1843, Belper Union, mms: HARDWICK
BIRTH: Lucy GREGORY, reg Jun Qtr 1850,  Belper Union, mms: ANDERSON

and there appears to be another child:
BIRTH Charles GREGORY, reg: Jun Qtr 1845, Belper Union, mms: HARDWICK
DEATH: Charles GREGORY, Sep Qtr 1850, Belper Union

Cheers

Sorry to ask, but what does "MMS" mean?
