Inmate or Inmet baptisms Kent in the late 1770's
« on: Friday 03 March 17 12:30 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to trace the parents of Sarah Inmate born about 1777.She married Christopher Robus on the 20/11/1797 in Bilsington Kent Parish Reg entry No 43 page 17 [Copy held]. She died on the 01/05/1848 age 73 at Mersham Kent [Death cert held]
I have knowledge of the following baptisms at Lyminge Kent, 1732 Aug 2 Thomas son of Henry & Mary Inmet, 1732 Aug 2 Sarah daughter of Henry & Mary Inmet and 1734 Feb 5 John son of Henry & Mary Inmate. Have not been able to locate this surname elsewhere in this part of Kent. Any ideas about how to progress would be most welcomed please.

I don't know Kent at all but I looked at the National burial index cd & there are 11 deaths in Kent for Inmate & variations 9 of them in folkstone varying dates 1642 -1807. It might be worth checking these.

Thank you for the info.
Diddy.....
Tell me please ,can you search the National Burial Index by surname only? I don't have a copy on my computer and would consider getting the download if it is searchable in the manner I would like.

Bev....

Thank you for the Marriage entries. The marriage on the 25/04/1776 looks promising. Have just ordered CD Rom from Kent FHS which covers Kingsnorth to try and find any baptisms of this marriage. Long shot I think but worth trying.

To Diddy & Bev.
Have purchased CD/ROM of National Death Index. Found it most useful also have obtained copies of INMETT Marriage and Baptism Parish register entries in Kingsnorth. Dates line up for my Sarah INMATE in Bilsington.  Parishes of Kingsnorth and Bilsington are adjacent so all indications look positive. Thank you both for your help.
