If this is the family in 1851
Israel Broderick   34
Ruth Broderick   23
Harriett Broderick   8
Mary A Broderick   1
Eliza Broderick   2 Mo
 then Mary A and Eliza shoud be Broderick/Vaughan, but Mary Ann is Broderick/Vaughan whilst Eliza(Ruth) appears to be Broderick/Butler.

yes thats the right family, ruth surname was vaughan so seems to fit together

Eliza Ruth born 1855 has for her mother's maiden surname Butler according to the GRO. 
Did you not get her birth certificate?

i can find no marriage to a butler, for israel.

i - the first three children have susan as mothers name but i cannot find her surname
ii - the next child has ruth vaughan as mother
iii - the next 8 children have butler as mmn?

ruth remarried - thomas lyons,

i have searched the gro, free reg and the lds. can someone point me to anywhere else to look thanks in advance and sorry to ask about these people again
