The quarry lincoln
« on: Sunday 05 March 17 01:13 GMT (UK) »
My name is sarah and i was looking at the forum on the quarry in Lincoln it is on greetwell road i was born there in June of 1969 then put up for adoption i have since been and looked round about 6 or 7 years ago it was then a residential home. As far as i am aware it is now closed from what i understand it was not a nice place to be Understandably  i was given up at 6 weeks old and was again led to be believe that this was the standard practice for mums in there at that time . i was very lucky and ended up in very happy family home . when my. Natural mother gave me up she handed me over to my adopted mum at a place called Jews court in Lincoln on steep hill its now a book shop. I was one of the last babies born in the quarry. And to be handed over at jews court hope this information helps

Hello Sarah welcome to Rootschat. I am not sure what your question is?
There is a little on the nursing home here.

If you check here http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl  enter June 1969 in both date boxes  Lincoln in the Districts box, you may be able to find yourself. This will give you the details to order your birth certificate, just in case you don't have it. We are not allowed to post details of living people on here.

I am trying to help a cousin of mine, find her late sisters daughter. The child was born at the Quarry, mother and baby home in Lincoln in 1959.Although the baby was born in Lincoln, the mother was from Doncaster. She died at an early age,and my cousin has always wondered how and where the child was,and would have liked to explain to the child the circumstances of her birth, adoption etc.I know this is a long shot but if anyone was at the quarry during this year, please could they make contact, they may be able to help.
