I am Zoe Northeast, granddaughter of Maximilian Double.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,
Zoe

Hello maxD
I haven't unearthed anything
As yet
My dad was in Burma and other
Secret places.
Just wondered as he left a  personal camera -snapshot -of the memorial -of the women and children who died- in the Great Earthquake of 1935
he was in RAF WW2 .

I take it you haven't got his service record which should tell you where he was and when?

I know WW1 there was a RAF base near there.
As to WW2 ?.
As to his service record  maybe one day -
Dad kept his time/place
During WW2 to himself that's
What he wanted.
I shall honour his wishes

Understood.  The the simple answer to your question is yes, there was a RAF Station at Quetta, example https://www.flickr.com/photos/59662214@N06/5988225319 but whether any Bomber Command squadrons were based there I'm afraid I don't know.

The quick answer is no Bomber Command units stationed anywhere near Quetta (edit - brain fade) 1939 to 45.

Bomber Command was a formation geographically limited to the UK.

The longer answer is that bomber role aircraft were stationed near Quetta but flying under Command other than Bomber Command.

Ross
Sea Losses of RAF Aircraft 1918 to date.

RAF Coastal Command 1939-45.

Between the Wars RAF Officers and Warrant Officers.

Could he have been a member of 31 Squadron? They were out and about in that general area.
