Hi keyboard86 and giggsycat,

Thank you for your replies

The Elizabeth Herbert I attached from another family tree on Ancestry and am trying to find more information on her.  As I thought at the time with the name Herbert as a middle name for Vere Herbert Smith born 1777 she was connected with him especially as he was buried at St Mary's church, Abergavenny where the Herbert family are connected with. He was a silk mercer in Abergavenny and quite wealthy.

Getting back to your messages I agree that Elizabeth Smith Joaoms - the surname is Jones. and is Vere Herbert Smith's Grandaughter.

I appreciate the Baptism for Vere Herbert Smith in the Forest of Dean and see it gives his mother as Elizabeth but no surname..

Thanks for finding his baptism and place of baptism great research..

Thanks so much

Elizlloyd

Hi how do you know the maiden name of Elizabeth was Herbert?

There is a marriage 4th March 1776 Chepstow of a VERA Smith to an Elizabeth Jones?
Keyboard86

Why if of no relationship to your own family possibly, are you still interested in an Elizabeth Herbert?

Was Vere the only child to this couple if indeed they are the parents of Vere Herbert Smith?
Keyboard86

PS who are the parents of Elizabeth Smith Jones, born in Northampton?? Staffordshire?

Hi keyboard86

Thank you for replying I have a sibling for Vere Herbert Smith an Anne Smith birth about 1775 taken from the same person 's family tree on Ancestry.. states Father Vere Smith born 1755 and Mother Elizabeth Herbert born 1710.. think I need to message this person on Ancestry owner Brennan Kerr Nelson, to find out why he thinks Elizabeth Herbert is their mother.

The reason I thought that  Elizabeth Herbert was connected was because of this other family tree information.

I appreciate your help and will contact this person on Ancestry.

Thanks

Hi now I see the vast difference in ages of Vere and Elizabeth,  do they state where Ann( no Herbert) Smith was born?

Hi looking at the Forest of Dean link for the baptism of Vere Herbert Smith what was the name of the church he and possibly his sister Anne were baptised in.  Im guessing there family was welsh.

Thanks

:) Which would suggest two Vere Smiths marrying an Elizabeth c 1776 in Chepstow area, one tree I have viewed even suggested that the father of Elizabeth Herbert was a Vere?!
Keyboard86

Of course Elizabeth Jones could be nee Herbert, and was a Widow?
Keyboard86

PS just seen your latest post, would be interesting to see the baptism of Ann possibly prior to marriage?

Wow that is incredible the thought of two Vere's in the same area.. small world.. appreciate your help and it dos'nt give a baptism for Anne Smith.

:) Look seriously I do not believe the possibility of two Vere Smith's marrying by coincidence an Elizabeth c 1775 Chepstow, the tree does not show ( by your last post) a baptism for Ann 1775 but confidently suggests she was born in Chepstow?
