It still leaves me with the problem of when he and she passed over?

There's this possible death for Violet
March 1967 Totnes 7a 890
Gibson, Violet A
age 57

Totnes was the district for Paignton
And in the (historical) telephone directories there are listings for a F. M. Gibson with Paignton addresses/numbers from about the mid 50s to late 70s
I think there's just one entry per directory, so it could be the same person/family moved a few times.
Might be a possibility perhaps
John

Where are the directories to be found for Paignton? As to Australia I had a search on Ancestry but no one came up.

Hi
Just noticed that although there are four different Paignton addresses for F M Gibson from 1954 to 1964, the telephone number is the same! Paignton 83185.
In 1968 and the final(?) move, it's 43185

I believe that it's still impossible to search the British Phone Books database on ancestry.
There was a thread about that problem on here not long ago. Ancestry say "to search these records you are required to provide a name and country/county"
But the country/county boxes do not seem to function properly.

You have to search via ancestry's main, general search engine (under Search All Records)
Even then it doesn't work for the phone books if your "Collection Focus" is UK and Ireland
You have to select search All Collections
Type in F M Gibson, and keyword Paignt*
That should bring the results up. And once you are into the images, you can change the years etc, and therefore are able to browse any of the directories yourself.

Hi Jon you must be more tenacious than me, I can only find Scottish ones! Ancestry is really useless most of the time to do a proper search-it seems to have been designed for computer programmers not ft researchers, same way as FindMyPast has gone.
