Look through some old notes,  I have a picture of a grave of 2 men buried here, tommy (Thomas) & John...I believe these could be my grandfathers brothers.

Any more records of the others being in the work house?  & were you able to leave a workhouse on ur own consent

It could be that the older children (or relatives, neighbours or friends) looked after the younger children when the parents died. In 1914- Lizzie (23), David (21), John (20), James (18), Daniel (15), Thomas (14), Patrick (7), David (5), Maggie (4), so only the 3 youngest would likely be in school.

Have to correct any earlier typo-
Patrick McKeever, orphan, age 9 months, died Coleraine Workhouse 11 Dec.1917 (not 1914)

I wonder who Patrick belonged to then? If Ellen had passed away 1914 then he couldn't be a brother of my grandfather.  & also how did Eliza end up in the workhouse, being head of the family I thought she might of cared for the young ones.

I'm thinking David 1893 must of passed away before 1909 or why would u have 2 boys with the same name.

I'm confident Patrick & Thomas are buried in Bolern (ballerin) both dying in the 1970's.

So Margaret (Maggie) may where did she get to? 🤔

I Desperately want to know who cared for my grandfather 😔

Had a few GRONI credits so check Patrick's birth certificate-

11 Dec.1917, Infirmary coleraine, Patrick McKeever of Shanlongford, male, bachelor, 9 months, orphan, general tuberculosis exhaustion certificate, registered by J. McLarnon, Workhouse 7 Jan.1918.

His birth certificate (not yet available online) would show parents (or at least mother) but I think that he was Lizzie's child. He was born around March 1917, she died of TB in August and he (an orphan)  died of TB in December.

Bit got left out earlier and didn't realise when I posted list of surviving children in 1914. You are correct- David died aged 4 months in 1893-

An online tree gives a William & Sarah as children but I can find no evidence of this yet, although William of Cam (see next post) is a possibility.

The baptisms giving family at Curragh & Curraghglass fit the Shanlongford location I mentioned earlier from the valuations.

Based on the dates of birth and fact that it's likely all the McKeevers were connected (John perhaps coming into the area to work and meeting a local girl). Betty Cochrane is quite possibly one of the Shanlongford family which would mean this was a mixed marriage. Unfortunately although I have lots of information on the Cochranes I'm unable to connected her to this (or any other) Cochrane family. There are no McKeevers in the area in 1831 census (lists head of household only).
