Hikuai 1920's Re-hab Soldier settlement.

Hello.

Have spent several days researching the above.  As a result have amassed quite a number of newspaper clippings, and Auckland Libraries, NZ MAP 3579 of the Settlement Ballot plan.

This I have notated with details of the ballot; and other press copy [roading matters - flooding etc], and am prepared to make copies available upon request. Family names in the ballot were:-

Could be as we here in the Waikato had 80 mm over night and it is still raining. A Farmers delight.

Hi Althea.

Two wet days let me have a play with this interesting [for me] subject, but I already have too many PHD's on the go, including a 200 page one promised to a Waikato District Council Trust, some time ago.

Will probably enquire if the local school would like a file containing over 100 clippings and images collected for the period 1920 - 1930. I'm sure the local kids would find some of the clippings interesting. Life was so different then. The pioneers worked very hard, and were very resilient.
