I am puzzled by this thread?

The data sets on Ancestry are:
UK, Outward Passenger Lists, 1890-1960     and
UK, Incoming Passenger Lists, 1890-1960.

The source description of these is:
Board of Trade: Commercial and Statistical Department and successors: Outwards Passenger Lists. BT27. Records of the Commercial, Companies, Labour, Railways and Statistics Departments. Records of the Board of Trade and of successor and related bodies. The National Archives, Kew, Richmond, Surrey, England.

and

Board of Trade: Commercial and Statistical Department and successors: Inwards Passenger Lists. Kew, Surrey, England: The National Archives of the UK (TNA). Series BT26, 1,472 pieces.

No mention of either England or Scotland? ???

Furthermore:

When I select Outward Passenger Lists, and using the "Browse This Collection" buttons on the right-hand side, amongst the list of ports I can select are:

Aberdeen
Ardrossan
Ayr
Dundee
Glasgow
Gourock
Greenock
Leith
Lochboisdale
Oban
Stornaway
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

I've taken the liberty to edit the title of this topic to better describe what records are missing.

I don't have an Ancestry UK subscription.
But if I go to the Ancestry UK Passenger List page, like KG I can see Scottish ports there in the drop down list, top right, and underneath is another drop-down menu of the years and months for which records are available.
Alternatively, if I simply enter 'Scotland' as place of departure I get what looks like thousands of hits.
So I too am puzzled.

I am puzzled by this thread?

Not as Puzzled as I am  ::)

I was searching (UK sub) Passenger Lists looking for a 'lost' relative only to discover that I could view the lists leaving from England but need a Worldwide sub to view the lists leaving from Scotland.

Are you looking at lists generated by the UK Board of Trade (and subsequent bodies), or lists generated by US?

What is the name of the database that you can't get access to?

As I said I can view them quite happily?
Alternatively, tell us who you are looking for, then we can have a look for ourselves.

Some of the US and Canadian Passenger Lists show ports of departure.  As KG has enquired, are you trying to view one of these rather than those of the UK Board of Trade?  You would need a Worldwide sub to view the US and Canadian lists as they are from Archives in those countries not from Kew.

"Some of the US and Canadian Passenger Lists show ports of departure"

Moreover, not all Scottish emigrants sailed from Scottish ports.  Mine traveled from Liverpool in 1834.

KG,

Sorry I don't understand all the info. you've posted but.....

I was simply checking as follows:

anc.co.uk

SEARCH
Immigration & Travel
Passenger Lists
Only records from the UK and Ireland (Would have travelled from UK IF he did?)
All Collections

I tried to access this (and others);

William Steel
B abt 1876
Dep. 22 Apr 1921 - Glasgow, Scotland
Dest. Montreal, Canada

The pages redirected me telling me I needed a Worldwide Membership (whenever I clicked on any departing from Scotland)!

I see today (having just tried it in order to give you an insight) it's now accessible ???  ::)

I don't know why it was unaccessible last night?
