A bit more on the name confusion

http://www.rafcommands.com/forum/showthread.php?21196-Fairey-Battle-K9328-Crash-11th-August-1939-Crew-Update&styleid=3

Is it possible that the entry on the 1936 marriage certificate is LAC for Leading Air Craftsman rather than the stated Lance Corporal?

Ross
Sea Losses of RAF Aircraft 1918 to date.

RAF Coastal Command 1939-45.

Between the Wars RAF Officers and Warrant Officers.

Ross! THANK YOU! I must have been searching wrong although I did try with his service number  :-\

I will study this and try another search then I might ask some more questions if that's ok.

I cannot express enough how much I appreciate you taking the time to reply in detail and clarify things AND conduct this search. You are a champion, thanks again.

And many thanks to all who replied to help also!

One quick note as I was not clear in my mention of certificates... One was the marriage (1936) with info being the Lance Corporal 32 (F) Squadron Biggin Hill, the other (1938) is my grandmothers birth certificate of which I know says Sargeant but as I am also waiting for a copy of this I don't know the full details recorded as his occupation as yet - which I am very much looking forward to receiving for additional clues.

Jayne

Not sure Ross, it was not abbreviated, it actually says 'Lance Corporal' ...

Funny you found that as it was a thread stemmed from my questions sent to Air Britain  ;D

I am so glad you found those accident cards Ross, after reading that the RAF museum in Hendon had closed down I was sad that I may never get the chance to find them. I never knew they were online. So happy!

Ahh.. all the nots..

It has not.

They are not.

Hendon is still very much a going concern - just some halls are being revamped and exhibits distributed to other locations.

The Form 1180 are available on request to DoRIS (Department of Reasearch and Information Services) at Hendon via post, email or web site request.

I have a number of forms in digital format that I have had transferred for personal research purposes.
