McFaddens of Calhaine
« on: Friday 10 March 17 18:16 GMT (UK) »
Always thought my McFadden ancestors originated in County Derry, but have noticed that my great-great grandfather has listed "Calhaine" as his residence on his marriage certificate, which I believe to be near Killybegs in Donegal but I am not 100%.

His name is Robert McFadden, a scutcher married to Sarah Grissim on 19th September 1891, his father is listed as Hugh McFadden, and he was married in a church of Ireland parish church in Aghadowey, County Derry.

I know there are a lot of McFaddens in Donegal, but if anyone has any possible leads about a Calhaine branch could they send them my way!

Thanks

Ben

Do you know what year he was born his birth cert may be here https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/civil-search.jsp
I can see if you google Calhaine it gives results but they don't seem to lead anywhere, on these sites I can only find Calhame in Donegal. 8 of them at last count.

Robert McFadden was living in Calhame at the time of his marriage-

Calhame is in Aghadowey townland in Aghadowey Parish, Co. Londonderry (Bellevue is in Calhame).

Don't really understand your last post  :-\

Robert McFadden NEVER lived in Donegal & his family NEVER lived in Donegal so finding other McFaddens in Donegal is not going to help OP find details of HIS family.

Here are links to census details-

www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Londonderry/Aghadowney/Ballynacally_Beg/651804

Robert McFadden was a scutcher at Rushbrook (Ballynacally Beg) and the family has already been well researched.
