Tintype photo - Walmsley

Greetings - I have re-scaned my tintype photo as requested. The photo is from my late fathers records - Alan Thomas Walmsley b1919. The only record I have of ancestors outside the North of England are births in Ireland and my maternal great grandmother Emma Bagshaw emigrating to Republic of South Africa in 1910.

I am interested in the date of photo, where it was taken and the identity of the two subject. Any clues would be most appreciate.

I've tried to clean it up a bit without going overboard. As for the dating question, Jim is extremely knowledgeable on such matters and gave a fairly comprehensive opinion in your original thread. You are unlikely to get better. :)
