Elizabeth Anne Beattie died Manchester about 1974
« on: Saturday 11 March 17 13:02 GMT (UK) »
This is recent history but something not spoken about so obviously I am interested in finding out what happened....
As I understand it Elizabeth Anne Grey b about 1938 in Surrey, daughter of Kenneth Ewart Grey and Helen Macmillan Robertson, married about 1957 in possibly Portsmouth, Hampshire.
They had 2 children both born in Manchester and probably still alive so won't give their names.
The unspoken bit is something to do with her death, she was possibly murdered around June 1974 in Manchester - by her husband?
Can't find a way to access Manchester newspaper for 1974 online without going to a library in Manchester to complete registration.
If anyone can assist on any way that would be wonderful.
I live in Scotland so not likely to be visiting Manchester any time soon.

Hi Broadbank,

Her husband, he could still be living.
Even if he's not, as you say his sons probably are - but either way & especially since you're not certain he murdered his wife, he definitely shouldn't be named here either.

The British Newspaper Archive is :
http://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/

It's is a pay site, though you can glean a fair bit from free searching. (I didn't see anything in quick look I had)

Cheers

Believe husband now deceased but appreciate being such recent ' history' this is sensitive.
Have searched the British newspaper archive but they didn't seem to have any Manchester papers available online post about 1940 and I couldn't find any reference when I did a more general search.
Thank you for the death certificate details.
Will try and order one up.
