According to the Master Certificate on Ancestry he was on 2 ships from Norway: Olivia from Kristiansund and Nora from Fredrikshald. I couldn't find anything of him on the Olivia but did find him on the Nora.

He was a Chief Officer/First mate on the Nora and left her on 19 March 1868 and then leaving for England 24 Feb 1869. He left form Horten in Norway. I am unfortunately unable to make a lot out because of the abbreviations and the nautical language.
