Yes, I've come across them here and there too, hence my not twigging sooner.

Ummm yeah - while I was asleep! So sorry. I didn't mean to cause offence by acknowledging someone's help when I caught up with it. Perhaps I should make sure never to do it again - or maybe never to sleep or leave the computer for however long it takes to receive a useful reply. Which would you recommend, given all your experience?

Mmm, Not an ideal reply to someone who was kindly helping you with a very good link  :-\

A long time member who is very knowledgeable & very helpful with over 19,000 posts helping others which takes time & effort.

KG's reply was the 1st i.e;
"That is a site which seems to have slipped under the radar, and not just mine either" is untrue.

What??

I read the replies to my question, and the thanked respondent(s) for some valuable help. What I then get is a nasty attitude that I hadn't acknowledged the help the minute it was posted - because I was asleep at the time! My apologies once more for being human and having to take time away from the computer. I have spent large parts of the last 84 hours in hospital (looking out for someone else, not on my own account, this time).

Yes I asked for clarity on an address too far away to just nip round and see for myself. No I am neither inexperienced nor a numpty. And FYI I was not the only person who hadn't found the Workhouses site before, as another respondent said themself.

I always appreciate help when it is given, and sometimes am able to reciprocate. However, please, if it's too much trouble, just leave me to it, don't inconvenience yourself. At the end of the day, while it's nice to be important it's more important to be nice. Nobody else has taken me to task so I can only assume that in this case the problem is yours.

I now suggest for the good of all that the topic is well and truly closed.

I was born and later adopted in 1946. My birth mother also had a boy in November 1943 at this actual address. I have a copy of his birth certificate but never met him and he passed away in 1986. I personally have no connection with the address but I suggest that in view of your comment that this address must have been a hospital. I haven't found any physical trace of the address and may consider contacting the local council for further assistance.
