Looking for Bodkin or Qualter in Tuam
« on: Sunday 12 March 17 18:23 GMT (UK) »
Searching for info on my GGM Margaret Quinn (born: Bodkin) in Tuam (registry says Basket Town?/, Churchfriar??) on Sept 15, 1867. She moved to the US and married Michael Quinn in 1891 in Lynn, MA

She had a sister Catherine McGovern (born: Bodkin) in Tuam (registry says Corraela) on Aug 15, 1873 . She moved to the US and married in Lynn, MA

She had a brother Patrick Bodkin born in Tuam (registry says Corraela) October 14, 1869. He also came to US settling north of Boston, not sure of town.

Parents were Thomas Bodkin and Margaret (Qualter) Bodkin. no other info.

Interested in any info anyone may be able to provide on any of these people. Am familiar with Tuam, but the other location names are not familiar.

Tuam is the Registration District the other names are the townland the family lived in.
As Patrick's birth cert says Corralea Tuam, it is more than likely Corralea West which is one of the townlands of Tuam, there are several more in Galway.

Ballaghaland (I think) as address on this.

I thought it might be Ballaghaloed

Want to thank you very much for this info. Answered some questions, unfortunately the answers always create more.
But that's my problem to figure out.
Once again, thank you very much

Father listed as Thomas in baptism record so perhaps townland also an error? I do remember seeing other Bodkin records with Balaghaloed as the address.
