confused as to who william drewe married
« on: Sunday 12 March 17 22:47 GMT (UK) »
I have traced my drew Family of wiltshire, back to the drew family of sharpham and killerton in devon. Now, several sources state that william drewe born 1455 married Joan worsford. But i have got him married to Eleanor Dekingston, born 1455 Kenn, devon. i can't seem to find any info of a dekingston family from devon, but there is an eleanor dekingston marrying a william drew on the isle of wight ( and both being from the isle of wight), but i am pretty certain my drew family in wiltshire originated from devon. I have their son as being john drew and there is also a daughter Maud, but i'm not sure who her mother is. I got most of my info from wikitree, which i'm supposing is a reliable source??
If anyone can help point me in the right direction, i'd be most appreciative. It's doing my head in! lol

Considering that Parish Registers were not introduced until 1538 it's mazing that you have any of this information unless the family were aristocracy and someone has researched manorial rolls. Both Sharpham & Killerton are houses rather than places and the DREWEs are shown to have lived at Sharpham - see http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/DEV/Ashprington and note the reference in the Genealogy section. Killerton is in Broadclyst http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/DEV/Broadclyst

Well one of my drew ancestors married into the prideaux family, whose ancestors were descended from William the conquerer and Alfred the great. Plus John drew came from Devon and purchased southbroom house.
Thankyou for clearing up about the houses. Not familiar with Devon, so that's very helpful

What I meant when I said I was amazed that you had gone back this far is that very few people will have access to the type of information you are seeking. You may need to employ a specialist genealogist.
