Windows 10 glitch: Unable to sign in to your normal Microsoft account.

I am having a problem with Windows 10. Until 2 weeks ago, it was fine. Then, I kept getting 'unable to sign in to your normal Microsoft account. Sign off, re sign in and this may solve problem'. Well, it hasn't. I have lost some of my photos, documents history and have to start up some things (Skype for one) each time I turn the contraption on.
I also know of several people having similar problems.
Any suggestions? Please bear in mind that I am not technically minded so please keep it simple.

I've seen someone else experience the same error, this is how he fixed it: "something to do with password corruption - log in from another admin account, change password of affected account, reboot and login with new password".
