Tithe map/appotionment look up please
« on: Monday 13 March 17 11:39 GMT (UK) »
On the 1882 Ordnance survey map at approx grid ref 363483, 315551 behind the Bucks Head pub at the junction of Long Lane and the Hodnet road are shown brick works on both sides of Long Lane. I believe one side of the road is Wrockwardine Parish and the other sie is Longdon on Tern.
Can anyone look these up on the tithe map and apportionment. I would like to know if they are shown and who the owner is. I suspect it is Lillieshall Company.

Any Help appreciated - I am trying to work out when these brick works were established, before or after the canal opened.

Thanks, Allan

The tithe maps etc are likely to be found in Shropshire Records Office, located in Shrewsbury.  I see that you live in Telford, some 16 miles away, so perhaps a visit to beautiful Shrewsbury would be a good day out for you.   Alternatively perhaps Telford Library may have something, as Wrockwardine is local to you.   ;)
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Thanks - I have the Kelly's and a number of local newspaper clips that push it back a bit and there are brickmakers on all the censuses living in Long Lane.

Because of work commitments since SHrewbury stopped opening on Mon/Tue I find it almost impossible to get to SHrews Archives when they are open as I work Wed- Sun inclusive and Telford have the maps but not the apportionment
